An Avalon western.
When James Stark is introduced to Lord Jonathan Smythe and his loyal companion, Mongo, he senses big trouble. Lord Smythe is a man who values sport over all other things and he likes killing too much. So, reluctantly, Stark decides to join an expedition into Oklahoma Indian Territory led by Professor Bartleston to photograph animals for the Museum of Natural History in New York City. Besides, Prudence McKay, a young woman whom Stark quietly cares for, insists on joining the group of wildlife explorers and his presence will assure her safety.
The group quickly runs into trouble: a bandit, Art Debil is roaming the plains and a magnificent black mountain lion is shadowing them. Of course, Lord Smythe is itching for a fight with either nemesis. But the true battle is between the bloodthirsty Englishman Smythe, and the one-time lawman, bounty hunter and gunfighter, Stark. Who will survive this test of wills?
