EDWARDIAN is an adjective that suggest amplitude and leisure yet the King who left his name on an era and a style reigned for less than ten years. The paradox is resolved by recalling that his public career began some forty years before he came to the throne. After the death of the Prince Consort, Queen Victoria refused to discharge most of the ceremonial and diplomatic duties of her office. The Prince of Wales, often in the teeth of his Mother's opposition, endeavored to make good the deficiency. A Wonderful Book full of History!
