Ben Mears, a young novelist, returns home to Salem's Lot after many years, determined to write a book about the eerie old Marsten House which overlooks the town. After strange and unaccountable incidents, Mears becomes convinced that the source of the trouble is the evil Marsten House itself. This house and its present tenant become the center of an evil that threatens to destroy the entire town and everyone in it.
