Newly graduated, young Dr. Thomas Parks expects to practice trauma medicine with an old family friend, John Haines. What Thomas does not expect is to be nearly killed within an hour of arriving in town. During the long hours of painful convalescence, Thomas makes a discovery: Dr. Haines, along with others, is operating a lucrative mail-order diagnosis business, a scam. Outraged, Thomas tries to put an end to the deception, and at the same time discovers that the guilty parties have much more to protect than a fraudulent medical practice.
