Handwritten information on back of photograph reads, "from N.W. - Exact condition of work. Dec. 12, 1917. Site of the Present Library 1969 - (formerly Post Office)." Last name of signature is Mullin, Supt. Work referred to is construction on the United States Post Office. The building became the Arthur Johnson Memorial Library in 1969 for $1.00 as long as the building remained a library for thirty years. In 1999 the ownership of the building was transferred from the Federal Government to the City of Raton under librarian Thayla Wright.
