Raton chronicle / Father Stanley - 2006 Reproduced by Coda Publications - Denver, CO / Raton, NM Coda Publications 2006 (c1948) - 136 p. B&w photographs; footnotes

Compiled by Father Stanley for the Raton Historical Society, this is a history of Raton first published in 1948 and dedicated to the boys from Raton who lost their lives in World War II. At first a stage coach stop, the Santa Fe Railroad started building a roundhouse and machine shops to service the trains in 1880, and the town that sprang up around it was named Raton. This is an account of the community from its inception through the early part of the 20th century. Full of anecdotes and various community growing pains and developments, the "Raton Chronicle" also has a last chapter of thumbnail sketches of early pioneers.
